Full Circle With Mythbuster Adam Savage

Across 2015 I developed a method to hydroform handpans shells. The result was a very consistent handpan shell that could be made in-house by a machine that didn’t require a big monetary investment. In 2016, I open-sourced this method. Part of open sourcing it was giving a talk at Hangout USA about the year that it took to develop this machine. In that talk (linked below) I discuss how a snippet of a Mythbusters episode is what sparked my journey.

Years later I had the opportunity to meet one of the Mythbusters, Adam Savage. I told him how that particular episode had sparked and how it had radically changed our little industry. I felt that it was important for him to know and important that I got to shake his hand and say thank you on behalf of our whole industry.

Just a few days ago in a QnA video, someone asked Adam the question, “Did the testing of any myths ever lead to changes to products or industry practices as a result of what you discovered?” Adam immediately responds with, “I know of one!”
